Position: Data Base Administrator / Programmer

Department: Management Information Systems

Position Summary:
Reporting to the VP MIS, and working primarily at UTP’s Dufferin and Steeles location, this new position will be responsible for providing data base administration, programming support, and troubleshooting for multiple relational data bases and will undertake various projects identified as strategic priorities, including planning new features and functions. Support is principally for MS SQL systems, including the North Plains TeleScope digital asset management system and Dynamic Great Plains financial system. Other systems in which the individual may be required to become familiar include DB2, MySQL and Oracle data bases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in data base administration and a programming role.
  • Skills: Specific skills must include expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2008 and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), familiarity with the principles of database design, data acquisition and data access analysis and design, data base performance tuning techniques, ability to write queries, stored procedures, triggers and functions, and facility with XSL, ASP.NET, Javascript, CSS, VB, DTS/SSIS. Familiarity with other relational data bases – MySQL, Oracle, and DB2, and data warehouse experience would be an asset.
  • Other: Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize and strong organizational skills are essential.

Position: General Merchandise Coordinator

Department: University of Toronto Bookstore, @ Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Road, North

Position Summary:
Reporting to the UTM Store Manager and the indirect direction of the Sn. Manager Buying, General Merchandise the GM coordinator is responsible for the ongoing management of all visual merchandising, display, selling, and daily operations at the UTM store for all General merchandise products including apparel, gift, and stationery. This includes maintaining a well-merchandised sales area, ensuring that displays are changed as required, selling merchandise, providing direction to PT staff on the sales floor and performing other related duties. They will also be responsible for managing stock levels of GM product ensuring the store is well stocked and ensuring stock remains current by returning or marking down aging inventory. It is critical to provide a consistently high level of customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School graduate. Post Secondary is an asset.
  • Experience: 2 years retail experience. Visual background, experience with clothing or stationery an asset.
  • Skills: Building effective displays, works well as a team player, strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Other: Strong interpersonal skills. Good analytic ability combined with an imaginative merchandising flair.
