Give a Little, Help a Lot
The University of Toronto Bookstore has partnered with the University of Toronto Students' Union to help raise money for the charitable Food & Clothing Bank. There are many students living in poverty or struggling to get by week to week. The initiative, called "Give a Little, Help a Lot" will run throughout February 2010 and asks students, faculty and staff to donate 25 cents or more when purchasing at the bookstore.
U.T.S.U.s’ Member Services Coordinator Terri Nikolaevsky says, "We are thrilled to partner with the
U of T Bookstore in this very important initiative. 100% of the proceeds will go to support students in need."
University of Toronto Bookstore’s, VP Retail, Chad Saunders says, “We are glad to help students in
need directly. During the month of February 2010 we’re hoping to proactively fundraise thousands of dollars one quarter
at a time. The bookstore cashiers will ask everyone to Give a Little, Help a Lot. As an incentive, people who donate can enter to win a $100 U of T Bookstore gift card.”
The food bank is open Fridays year round and any student can get much needed food and clothing by showing their course calendar and student ID card.
