Refunds or exchanges will not be granted without prior approval for returns.

  • All items being returned must be unused, unopened, price tag attached and in their original selling condition.
  • Original receipt is required for all returns and exchanges.
  • All refunds will be issued in the original form of payment only.
  • Refunds or exchanges of general merchandise can be made within 30 days of original date of purchase, providing that all other conditions are met.
  • Refunds or exchanges of textbooks & course materials can be made within 14 days of original date of purchase, some exceptions apply.

  • New textbooks that have been marked, spine-cracked, worn, highlighted, corners bent, and generally used are non-returnable, texts must be in perfect condition
  • Open packages including open shrink-wrapped packages are non-returnable – shrink-wrapped textbooks must be in sealed, original packaging

All course materials are non-returnable if purchased 6 weeks from the start of Fall and Winter terms or 3 weeks from the start of Summer F, S, and Y terms.

Return or Exchange a Shipped Order

  • The customer is responsible for any return shipping charges

  • All international packages must be marked as 'RETURNED GOODS', to avoid any customs charges

Canada and US orders ship via UPS, international orders via DHL. All packages require a signature upon delivery; UPS / DHL may hold packages at the closest station if customers are unavailable to sign for delivery. Customers will receive a UPS / DHL tracking number via email when the online order is processed. International customers are responsible for paying any customs or import fees; DHL will contact customers for payment. Please refer to our International Shipping Policy.

Return or Exchange a Pickup Order

Pickup Orders that are not collected with 14 days will be flagged as Abandoned.

All returns are subject to inspection and must include the original tags and be unopened in their original selling condition.

Original receipt is required for all returns/exchanges.

Abandoned Orders

Pickup Orders that are not collected with 14 days will be flagged as Abandoned. The customer will lose ownership of the items at this time. No refunds are available on Abandoned orders. If you are unable to pick up your item in the 14 day window, please contact weborders@uoftbookstore.com to request a refund within the 14 day window.

Defects & Transit Damage

If you discover an item has a manufacturer's defect or was damaged during transit, please contact weborders@uoftbookstore.com within 7 business days of receiving the product. We ask that you provide us with your order number, a description of the issue, and an image of the item. Replacements are subject to availability.

Holiday Gift Purchases

Holiday purchases of clothing / gift products (regular exclusions apply) made between November 1st and December 24th may be returned / exchanged until January 17th of the following year. An original receipt is required. University of Toronto Bookstore reserves the right to reject any return / exchange.

Black Friday Sale purchases are final sale; no returns nor exchanges will be accepted.
